"We are particularly grateful to the Management of Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital for allowing us to fulfill today the project—born on the occasion of the company's centenary (2021)—of dedicating to the memory of our father an excellence in the field of research and technology in the medical and healthcare sector. S.A.L.F. has been operating in the pharmaceutical area for over a century, providing hospitals in Italy and abroad with solutions and medicines for the health and well-being of patients. Thanks to continuous research and development in the pharmacological sector, the company also offers a wide range of solutions for organ preservation used during transplant operations. We therefore believe that there could be no better way to honor our father's memory than to fund such an important and cutting-edge project in the healthcare field as the Biobank, which represents a scientific and technical excellence within the Hospital, as well as a source of pride for our region and for medical research on a national level. We also believe that this collaboration is a great example of ‘public-private’ synergy to the exclusive benefit of patient care and public health.” - Aldo, Carla, and Paolo Angeletti (S.A.L.F. S.p.A.)
The naming ceremony of the Biobank for Dr. Giorgio Angeletti, a Bergamo-based doctor and entrepreneur, owner of S.A.L.F. Laboratorio Farmacologico founded in 1921, took place on Tuesday, December 19. The dedication was decided by the top management of ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII in agreement with the family. S.A.L.F. S.p.A. sponsored a project of ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII aimed at implementing the use of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology in the Hospital.
The plaque with the new dedication of the Biobank was placed right at the entrance of the facility where biological samples are cryopreserved, in the basement of Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital. Along with General Director Maria Beatrice Stasi, Andrea Gianatti, Director of Pathological Anatomy and Director of the Laboratory Medicine Department, and Marco Arosio, Head of the Biobank, the plaque was unveiled by Aldo Angeletti, CEO of S.A.L.F. S.p.A. his brother Paolo Angeletti, and his sister Carla Angeletti as Executive Board Members. Also present were other members of the Angeletti family, now in its fourth generation leading the pharmaceutical laboratory.
